Itohan 4

So the coast was finally clear!

If you were in my shoes, what advice would you have given Chief? Best to strike when the iron is hot, i told myself. All things were falling into place as I had planned. The gods were truly smiling on me. I calmly but with a careful pained and sorrowful look told him to let her go. She had brought shame and disgrace to him. No excuse was tenable.

Chief swallowed my advice hook, line and sinker. He officially divorced her and I became wife number one!

But, I cannot forget the look she gave me when I went with Chief to court during the divorce proceeding. I felt chilled to my bones. I cannot quite describe the look, but I knew it spelt doom. I started covering myself and my sons with the blood of Jesus! Afterall, what was my offence?! I merely anticipated a possible move from my opponent and blocked it. Shikena!

I tried not to let it bother me as Chief had acquired another property for me and I was so excited and busy with furnishing it.

A year down the line, Chief started putting pressure on me for more kids. I was disturbed. I had had all three via C sections. I couldn’t attempt a fourth one due to complications during the third section. I tried explaining but he was adamant. My gynaecologist advised adoption. While I was still thinking about how to broach the topic to him, my world literally fell apart. My well laid plans to secure my future and the future of my sons was threatened and from the most unlikely of sources.

There was an Achan in my camp
