So the coast was finally clear! If you were in my shoes, what advice would you have given Chief? Best to strike when the iron is hot, i told myself. All things were falling into place as I had planned. The gods were truly smiling on me. I calmly but with a careful pained and sorrowful look told him to let her go. She had brought shame and disgrace to him. No excuse was tenable. Chief swallowed my advice hook, line and sinker. He officially divorced her and I became wife number one! But, I cannot forget the look she gave me when I went with Chief to court during the divorce proceeding. I felt chilled to my bones. I cannot quite describe the look, but I knew it spelt doom. I started covering myself and my sons with the blood of Jesus! Afterall, what was my offence?! I merely anticipated a possible move from my opponent and blocked it. Shikena! I tried not to let it bother me as Chief had acquired another property for me and I was so excited and busy with furnishing it.  A year down t...

Is there always a reason behind every action? I daresay there is. Truth is I have been through hell and back in this life. Horribly, unbelievable things have happened to me, Itohan. Bottom line is, I must survive. I waited with bated breath for my deal to come through. And, it did We met at an eatery and I collected the video that would make my name permanently etched on Chief’s heart and hopefully, his will. I decided to strike whilst the iron was hot. The very next day, I instructed Chris to send the video to Chief's phone. I didn’t want to appear to have a hand in the whole story. I hired a private dick to monitor him for the day. Chief came back to my apartment fuming. I am not called Itohan for nothing and so I was all over him, feigning concern and ignorance. The whole sordid story came out, the whole sordid story I had arranged to safeguard my future. So, here we go or should I say, here it goes? I had arranged with Chris to seduce my husband’s first wife. E no easy, I had...

I think it is intrinsic in human nature to be discontent, at least at some point. We crave for something or a particular height, we get it or get there and briefly feel fulfilled, but then the demon of discontentment comes knocking at the door of our heart, a new yearning comes up. The yearnings are never, ever ending. It is in a continuum. Maybe I should have tried to take my heart away from being discontent. Maybe I should have tried to make myself happier. It is too late for the maybe(s), now.  Life as a mother and wife became somewhat harrowing. I craved excitement. I started going to nightclubs, at least once in a week. I had a capable nanny and my sons were safe in her care. I wasn’t stupid, I knew getting Chief as a husband was no mean feat. I knew I had to guard my marriage and all the perks that went with the office. I just wanted to drink, relax, dance, watch others dance and come home. But, I would be lying if I said I didn’t crave for the blood of a young , virile man. ...

I learnt early that you could use what you  have to get what you want. I think it was my first lesson learnt. I gained admission to the higher institution and got friendly with ladies who further expounded on the theory to me. I didn’t need to study too hard as my assets were put to good use. I was through with school and I had made up my mind, I wouldn’t settle down with a ‘ Surulere' man. I wanted someone who was rich, very rich. Why marry a poor man with whom you’d have to struggle with, huffing and panting by a kerosene stove, staying up till late at night wondering how to stretch limited resources to cover living expenses in a month? God forbid. Me, baby girl for life! I wanted the easy life and I was determined as determined can be to get it, at all costs. So I spread my nets and caught a big fish. I caught Chief. A man already married.  Chief’s wife was old and couldn’t proffer the pleasures, my slim and nubile body could. I had also along the years armed myself ...

With the relief I felt at my first session, wild horses wouldn’t keep me away from subsequent sessions We had sessions once in two weeks and I started getting to like Dele, a while lot more. She was kind, patient, open to ideas and very understanding. We became good friends and something more over the course of three months. The something more, resulted in her getting pregnant. My first reaction was fear and despair. I couldn’t divorce my wife, I had been brought up with a strict moral code: once married, forever married and I didn’t want any child of mine, born out of wedlock. I knew it would be futile to suggest termination. She was well over forty, this was her first pregnancy and she was delighted. How to tell Fiona, or not to tell? I knew she would raise the roof. If you have an abhorrence for any outburst of whatever kind like me, you would dread any of my wife’s outbursts. They came like a tornado and left me drained with a big headache. I wanted to avoid it at all costs. ...

I left the resort, lighter at heart, refreshed and with a change in my mindset. I had made up my mind, I would not allow my circumstances, no matter how bad to control me. My children may have decided to ruin their lives, but it would not make me ruin mine via depression. I immersed myself into work. I would get back home very late at night. Have a shower and get into bed. Thankfully I and Wifey had agreed earlier on in our marriage on the need to have some space, so I had my own room, free of any bedroom chatter as it were. Dumebi got rusticated yet again and my little bubble of happiness, turned bitter. I had to escape from the house for my own sanity. I knew I was beginning to lose it. I checked into the resort again. But even there, the release I needed wouldn’t come. I was becoming an emotional wreck. I knew I needed help, fast. The owner of the resort was my saviour during this dark era. She was intuitive and noticed I had become a recluse, so unlike me. Slowly with some rel...

Since Dumebi had proven to be a disappointment, I pinned all my hopes on my daughter Ifeanyi. I told myself she would bring honour and pride to the family name. I was so protective of her and her grades were good. She was the picture of excellence until I started seeing some funny traits in her when she was in boarding house. I knew I hadn’t raised the angel I had hoped for when she was suspended in secondary school for prostituting in a nearby brothel. I felt my world collapsing. My hope, my joy lost! I couldn’t bring myself to talk to her. Her mother said she merely experimenting! I was aghast! I just had to leave the house. I knew if I stayed I would commit murder. I travelled to a resort in the East and tried to mend my broken heart. ‘Where did I go wrong?’ was the question I kept asking myself. Two kids apparently intent on the path of destruction. I had been a model son, straight A's and all. Courteous, the epitome of goodness and refinement mixed with good breeding.  I looke...
